Skinfulness
Experiential Workshop with Lian Loke
Lian Loke is a multidisciplinary artist based in Warrane/Sydney, with a deep passion for exploring how movement and imagination transform the body and mind. Drawing from somatic and shamanic dance traditions, her work blends performance, costume and installation to explore shifting hybrid identities, ritual, energy and metamorphic embodiment. From 1998 to 2006, Lian trained under American choreographer Annetta Luce, drawing on Body-Mind Centering and Qigong principles. Since 2007 she has trained in the Japanese Bodyweather dance methodology with de Quincey Co. She continues her studies in Qigong with renowned teacher Lee Holden, achieving Tier 1 Teaching Certification. She likes to perform in non-traditional performance spaces to stir up the sediment, spirits and status quo - most comfortable in the in-between spaces shaped by her Malaysian-Chinese and Anglo-Australian heritage.
The skin is boundary, envelope and exquisite potential for sensual bliss and connection. This workshop is a space to warm up the body and enter into a state of skinfulness. Drawing on sensing, feeling and imaging techniques from Qigong and Bodyweather, you will find comfort, ease and pleasure in your own skin. Moving out of the muscular body towards presence, flow and aliveness. No training is required, simply a curiosity to be present in your own delicious skin.
